Ze ROOF & Madame Rêve

Alain Bashung was a Belgium song writer who died in 2009. In 1995, his live album “Confessions Publique” included many hits, and “Madame rêve” was among them. The new Palace Hotel, which opened just accros the street in 2022, was named after Bashung’s song. But we don’t mention it only because it is the nearest hideout you can get from your home.

The hotel is on the top floors of the Poste du Louvre building, a complete rehabilitation of one of the last industrial buildings of the center of Paris — designed by Eiffel. There is also a restaurant (“La Plume”) and a roof-top bar (“ROOF Paris”) which are available to visitors (better to book ahead).

The food at Plume is an interesting blend of creativity and success (crunchy avocado for instance). Let’s just say one don’t go to these places for a Michelin-like experience, but rather for the festive atmosphere, enhanced by a music which can confuse you into dancing your way to your table.

And of course we definitely recommend a drink on the ROOF terrace, with spectacular views over St Eustache and the Paris skyline.
